I'm not sure who the "we" in this situation is. Most western cultures do adore blonde hair, but that's not to say brunettes are not the beauty standard either. Not to mention the countless other cultures that don't find blonde hair mainstream beauty. The biological background of fertility and our perception does make sense tho in an instinctual way.

Only 5% of north american or european people are blonde.
